Hi
I am a regular Guest Visitor to this forum. So today I joined to share this with other members in the same position as me.
There are many threads about converting to euro style torch for my Snap-on 130 and other mig welders.
As I am only a hobby welder the expense of converting to euro torch is not justified.
The low cost consumables available on EBay do not fit on the Snap-on / old Cerbora torches.
I have an old torch (broken trigger assembly) with which I tried the following.
I obtained a loan of an M8 x 1 (M8 fine) Die and cut the swan neck of just behind the gas ports and cut the thread on the swan neck,
I obtained a set of Tip holders with a RIGHT HAND THREAD (complete with BINZEL compatible Nozzles and Tips) on EBay. I had to request SPECIAL supply of Right Hand Thread tip holder, most common models use Left HaND thread.
This all fits together perfectly.
The bare section off brass left on display needs to be insulated with tape or shrink tube.
Because this is a scrap torch I cannot test it. I cannot see why it should not work at least as well as the original.
I know the professionals on this forum do not like the old Snap-on torch but it is not the limiting factor in my welding so this may be a worthwhile modification for me and others in the same (skill) position.
