Couple of jobs

Not sure if these are furniture or sculpture. But after Pondy's lotus flower, it reminded me. Client showed me a pic of a wooden door by a Vietnamese artist. Could I do a grill with it as a theme?
Lotus flowers don't exist, but pond lilies are next best. And I made the flowers from three leaves pressed from sheet, round a half ball pressed over a 1.5" tow hitch. Result was a bit tulip-ish. They liked it and asked for a bedroom in the same style. The curvy bits are 10mm sq. bar and the verticals 10mm round. Frame is 40x8.

They were going on about how great it was to have something unique in the house, so I told them I had just got an order for 20 rooms like it for a small hotel. The look on their faces was priceless. No sense of humour, the Swiss

And while I am at it, a mate had a ceramics shope nearby and wanted a grill for his street window (just out of the pic to the right)
I saw something in an article about decorating in Morocco. This is the result.
I did a second one as a gift for another client, but put a brass disc behind the face.KF

Thanks, looking at after a few years, I now think that the rays/flames would look better if thinner, less florid. Still, enjoyed doing them.

From around '84: One of of a pair of standard lamps. Around 6ft tall. Made of brass and steel for the tubes, then chromed. A nightmare, as the girl who was supposed to solder all the bits together wandered off. So I had to do it all myself and then the chroming shop caught fire and the roof fell into the tanks......
I ended up working non-stop for two days and nights and delivered them 30mins before the client flew in. As the house was not as finished as it should have been and the arquitect was on the firing line, they saved his neck as the client was so impressed with the lights. I, meanwhile, was asleep at a cafe table round the corner
Other one is some gates for a hotel in the style of their club logo.
Not so much sclupture, this should be in the Arquitectural section, but anyway...

It was, each ring of 'ruffles' had to chromed separately, then assembled, as the chroming process did not work under overlaps. All the joints wre brazed. If anybody wanted another one, it would be BIG bucks. Luckily it was only the two

I was pretty busy on a big solar heating project for the same house and didn't need the extra work. Which was why I got the girl, a jewelry maker, to do the project. She need the money, but had a row with her mother, a right ex Nazi (I kid you not!) and fled back to Germany.

Just found a pic of the house, right on the beach. The dark areas on the upper roof are my solar collectors, three visible, three behind.
The pic is a scanned old Poloroid, so a bit rough.
