The secret is don't let them get to that point. Prevention is better than cure.
I just use a little vasaline when my hands start cracking. Acts as a barrier too when outside rather than being absorbed into the skin.

At shearing time the lanolin from the fleece is the only time I have naturally soft flexible skin on my hands.. its good stuff.
Neutrogena is very good and is what I generally use, but my mum gets litres of E45 to treat her skin so I often blag a bit of that from her.
I am not adverse to having a sly grab of whatever 'er indoors is currently using as anything is better than letting the skin crack.
Be careful if the skin is already cracked and starting to get infected / sore as putting cream on that will often make it worse, get rid of the infection with salty water before starting to 'grease up'

As above, moisturising regularly or at least as soon as you notice them drying is the best prevention. I have found Germolene liquid plaster applied over the cracks helps a bit, stings like a **** when applying and needs re-applying fairly regular but does helps a bit.

I only find it takes a couple of days for mine to heal. I do apply some at night before sleeping too though. Need to get some on now, as chap is starting to appear.
Regarding the feet, that sounds more like it may be trench/athletes foot. Assuming you wear boots and thick socks? Is the skin on your feet dry cracking, or cracking due to your skin being wet/moist? If the former, vaseline. If the latter, vaseline won't generally touch it.

I use Battle+Hayward+Bower LTD, Lincoln...uddercream, not rated for humans but who gives a xxxxx or a damm.......my bucket, well small pot has moved with me thru 3 different countries.......never be with out it......

I use a horse balsam which I got from Hungary, its great for twists and sprains ..
I got it from a Hungarian Olympic Judo instructor and its neigh done either of us any harm....
