Hmmm bit low then - only seeing 30.5
The open-circuit voltages ( OCV ) of MIG welders that quote similar amperage do vary. This variation must be due to the resistance of the output circuit. That would include the thickness of the wire used in the main transformer secondary and the inductor, the use of copper vs. aluminium wire, and how many turns they had to use. Also how many diodes are in parallel for each of the four "effective" diodes in the bridge rectifier. Certainly the larger more professional machines seem to get away with lower OCV - e.g. 15 to 25v.
I think you need to assess the top-end voltage based on what all the other lower steps look like, it should be a linear progression. In addition, at full whack, does it burn metal like a 180-Amp machine should? Of course, having fast enough wire speed available also affects this.
One way to up the OCV is to add 50,000uF of capacitance to it.....

Ok Iam back on this bloody thing - it’s driving me mad , changed the motor and that’s ok - but it did not like the euro torch setup that was already on it - cebora euro socket did not like the clarke drive motor -
So I took it off and had a spare 4m torch and put that on instead - works brill but ! It now seems to semi live torch , it won’t arc straight away but it will do it after a few taps with the wire .
The torch I had was only a single wire from the switch - and suppose it’s using the main wire as a second to switch it on . The cebora had two wires spare once euro fitting was removed , so I connected torch wire to one of the pcb wires and the other wire put on the main torch wire on the rectifier ( positive side where it bolts to the rectifier , is this how you guys would of done it ???? Also what is causing the semi live torch ? Relay ?? The gas operates normal . Thanks for your time

Update , went back too it , pulled wires off that I had connected , didn’t arc , put wires back on didn’t arc , shorted it out so it was on then took short out and didn’t do it - put the wires back in and don’t do it now - aaasrggggggggghhhhhhh , will run it tomoz and see what happens
Yes bud , it came back , bloke said it wasn’t penetrating metal - I tried it again and was on the fence about it , so thought sod it let it go on eBay , happy with that to be honest as unit only , it was way out of my comfort zoneGood news, Shaun.
