crazy paint

HELP, my son and I have just finished a 4 year project on his anglia 105e I painted it last august and now it is starting to react a bit like spiders legs in the odd place and splitting on the bonnet, I had to order new paint as we ran out and it came from a different company it went on fine and the finish was good,it is celulose paint, has anyone come across the same problem and how do I rectify it ?

sounds like the paint is shrinking if it is splitting if it is only on the bonnet then i would suspect heat from the engine has something to do with it, how thick is the paint on the bonnet, was there already alot on there before you painted it, sounds like you may have to sand it right back and re paint

the paint is quit thick both on the bonnet and rear wing it has only appeared on the top left corner of the bonnet at the moment and the top corner of the rear wing and it also apears to be only happening were ive used the second lot of paint as I havent painted the whole car with it just were it was needed to rectify earlyer problems.

Too thick a top coat on top of uncured primer or first coat probably.

Was it a bare metal refinish or as Steveo said reaction to existing?

i would say incompatible paint whether it be old or new, i thought if only the bonnet the heat from the engine may have accelerated it, its a slow reaction at 9 months old
is the splitting limited to the new paint or old aswell?

What was the earlier problems in those areas, any filler work there.

the earlyer problem was I had missed a small dent on the rear wing and the bonnet wasnt covered properly I had put a small amount of filler on the rear wing but nothing on the bonnet I needed the extra paint to get the finish I was after can I put an isolator on to cure the problem ? or as you said do I need to strip it right back to bare metal?
