Someone has to make one of these helmets. It was a gift to Henry viii from Holy Roman Emperor Maximillian I.

you even get history lessons on this site. I looked at the helmet and thought the brass? bit looked like glasses and they couldn't possibly have been around then, so I checked

I would imagine though that eyeglasses, like books and other things we take for granted now, were seriously expensive and only for the very richest in society.

It's the hinge which threw me. Didn't realise they were doing that style of hinge back then.

A bit more background. It was part of a full set of armour, now lost, just the helmet remains.
