Cut 50 plasma settings

ok so i used the cyt 50 again today after not using it for some time and I struggled to cut 4mm steel with it. What kind of PSI and ampage should I be using on 4mm?
I benched it and used the grinder in the end.

I tend to have mine on maximum amps unless cutting thin sheet =<1.6mm but I do play with the air pressure, from 50psi to 60psi and make a few test cuts on some scrap.
Try checking your consumables and make sure you have a good earth.

the earth was good i cleanned that to shinney metal, the metal i was cutting was covered in raptor though but i thought once the pilit was going the metal being cut didnt need to be clean? Ill try more psi next time 50 may have not been enough

i got these from skotl

TBH, I set the air at about 65psi and never touch it after that.

12 mm would be at 50A
8mm at 30A
6mm at 20A
3mm at 15A

but ive severanced cut with 10mm 40/45amps at 70psi without blowing the 13amp fuse in the plasma cutter with breaks not continuous cuts

as my cutter reads right up too 55amps on digital readout

I struggled with 10mm when i first got it. took longer to clean the metal up after than it would have to cut it with the grinder!
Ill give it another go at 65psi and report back. whats the story with painted metal?

I cut stainless straight through the poly coating with mine, I find the electrode condition has a big effect on the cleanness of the cut, the ebay ones don't seem to last as long as the ones I bought locally (and paid a lot more for).
I rarely cut above 3mm with mine and never need more than 20 amps to get a clean cut, never touch the air, its set at 65psi for everything

I have cut 2mm stainless no bother with mine too I think I need to check the electrode it is probably ****** now although they can be turned around cant they

i went for these but they failed to deliver all the parts got 5.00 wiped off the price as no white pots with delivery

i do have a bag of consumables somewhere! need to find them

ive destroyed the internal on these so i just replaced the lot of inside

first mistake cutting on a corner the second mistake was a bad earth destroyed the internal copper

i just replaced the copper cap with these below pics

the pots should outlast the coppers depending on your care with the torch a drop and there probably broken or chipped

answers why your cutting badly there bust its meant to blow through a small hole

you could if there the same size just clean end off if no damage to the internal copper
