Cutting stainless steel tube, prepare to wince...

I had a bit of stainless steel tube off cut just the right diameter to use to push the bearing back on to my hubs, but the tube ends weren't square.

I thought about searching for somewhere close locally that could trim the ends then remembered my miter saw up in the loft, I also was pretty sure it had a blade with carbide tips, so whats to lose, just a saw blade I never use.

I tried out first on a mild steel bar and it cut just fine so went ahead on the stainless tube.

It cut through that also no problem.

Not sure how long the blade will last but will try it again sometime.

Decorators caulk and plenty coats of paint

Don't cut to mutch with it I some time ago I bought a expensive stainless blade to go in my evolution steel as I was making a stainless exhaust after about 30 to 40 cuts it was goosed working on say 35 cuts it. Cost about £3.00 per cut evolution wanted me to jump through whoops to try and get a refund in the end I abandoned it but spoke to a few industrial blade manufacturers and sellers and they all said that the saw speed was far to fast for any type of blade to last when cutting stainless

Your missing the point here. Surely running the TCT blade through some SS tube keeps the blade in tip top condition, I’m sure that’s confirmed somewhere on the Internet

its hardly likely they just go blunt same as tip tools in the lathe

The tips will chip if overused due to the speed and material strength if used to often

It's been in the loft never used since my old man gave it to me when he cleared his workshop, he would definitely wince, being a joiner.

All joking aside about cutting things not suitable for blades...when my Diamond blade on my stone cutter goes dull when i go through battens and nails ect then i have an old sandstone step and i do a couple of cuts in that and it brings the blade back to life
