da sander bogs down

ok i finally got me 300 ltr compressor up and running and i went to do a bit of sanding with my da , i never used a da before this so i dont know what they are supposed to be like but it seens when i put any bit of pressure on the pannel the da bogs down , unless i go really really light , are da air sanders supposed to be like this?

the compressor is out back and the air is fed through about 40 ft of 1/2" copper pipe and then when it gets to the garage it goes into a 1/4" hose on a reel which is about 30 foot , is it possible that the 1/4" hose is being too restrictive or is that just how da sanders work?

a 30 foot 1/4 hose will severly restrict flow
there ok on whip tails thats about all .winding up a hose restricts cfm flow as well try the sander close to the compressor and compare the diffrence . or increase bore size of hose a good presure shouldnt stop the sander

ah i see , thank god thats the problem bacause its a fairly useless tool at the moment lol , ill buy some half inch hose for it tomorrow when the shops are open , thanks for the advice once again

It could be freezing up through a long pipe run if you don't have a good water trap on it.

water trap ? Im not too sure what they would be but i have 3 water drains along the pipeline as shown in the paint guide on this website
