Danfoss programmer again.

This is the 3rd Danfoss FP715 in 10 years that has failed, same as the others, Red LEDs on solid, screen blank and responds to no input or factory reset or repowering. Ordered a replacement earlier and it on its way already from Amazon already.

Has anyone else had experience of this high failure rate of these devices, wondering if its just to hot in the airing cupboard for these to survive?

They are just fairly poor if I'm honest

Should be a standard backplate so I would cancel the order and use a Honeywell

Thank you for the advice, it is already on route, so I will fit it and make sure to get a Honeywell next time - which probably won't be that long..

I'd personally fit Horstmann if I was looking to fit a traditional programmer, but am about to fit a Nest instead of the built in programmer on my Worcester boiler

That's £10 cheaper than the Danfoss I ordered from them this morning! - bugger it...

Nest is actually very clever when setup, open therm saves money on gas

Hive is easy to fit but its ugly in my opinion, also communicates back to base when the app is used

That's how they work, they dont communicate directly to your phone. The hub plugs into your router to talk to base, the app communicates to base as well

Doesn't need the router if you use it in standalone mode

This is true, however the nest learning is superior to the hive, I guess more data being sent is the reason why?

Having said that I dont and wont have a smart thermostat in my house, my system is setup the old fashioned way and works well, no need to complicate it

I knew of someone that did at a party, only privacy available. Apparently it all got a bit energetic, the old type cylinder jacket slid off & he ended up with badly burnt buttocks

Just wanted to post if it can help someone in the future with the above problem.
I was googling an unrelated problem but this thread turned up in my search. It is quite interesting that this turned up in a welding forum because my Danfoss timer goes blank and freezes too, this mainly happens when I am welding thick steel or using my twin pump compressor in my workshop, I assume the voltage fluctuation trips the brain in the timer. I just flick the switch on the consumer unit by the meter to off, then back on and it resets the display and the red lights go off. If I am busy in my workshop it can happen quite often so my wife now knows which of the switches on the consumer unit controls that circuit and she resets it herself without having to come and ask me to do it. In fact, it might have even been her that suggested the universal "have you switched it off then back on?"
