After spending the last few weeks leeching all the great information from the site, I thought I better register, donate and say hello!
I'm Tim, and by day I'm a mild mannered geek guy who spends his days telling big companies and government departments how to keep the bad guys out of their data (I know how bad guys think because I used to be one!). By night, a transformation takes place. I pull on my overalls and I can be found in my lair (actually a 17' x 10' garage in a village in Buckinghamshire!), mostly making sparks, fumes and loud noises.
I'm into cars (big yanks, small ancient Fords and old engines), bikes (custom bicycles and small electric ones) and jet engines (fired up my latest creation last night)
I'm on my 3rd Mig in 2 years - first was stolen before I even plugged it in, second was incinerated in a massive workshop fire (along with about £50,000 worth of hotrods, yanks and drag cars) and my latest was acquired from a guy who used it to weld 2 sills onto a Viva but said he couldn't get on with it. Flipping the feed roller round so that the .06 groove matched the .06 wire he had loaded seemed to help a lot!
So, I now have a 3 week old Clarke 151TE that cost me £100 and I finally get to see just how rusty my Mig skills have got in the 7 years since I last welded anything...
