How many car mechanics have your wealth of knowledge and experience I wonder? Not manyThis is a side step lift mechanism from a range rover .
Replacement is 600 quid.
Decent material to weld for a change .View attachment 472694View attachment 472695View attachment 472696View attachment 472697
I gave my mum a lift in the Hilux the other day and very nearly needed to give her a boost up to get into the cab, my missus just takes a run up and jumps in.Doubleboost's skill and knowledge not withstanding, I'm gobsmacked to discover that such a thing exists or needs to exist.
My thoughts exactly, maybe DB should make a replacement out of stainlessNot built for fatties obviously...

I can imagine that if you're the kind of person who buys a £104K range rover, you're too "dignified" for such antics, and demand more refinement than a tube bolted to the chassis or a spring loaded foldy step like the landies of old.
Not built for fatties obviously...
Why bother, I've always found them to be self-removingFirst thing I do on an offroader is remove any silly side steps or running boards!.
....unless of course it's a classic (circa 80s or earlier - or early 90s)....as with most LR products they just got worse and worse after that point IMHOup until now I have never seen the word decent and range rover used in the same sentence.
That is an example which, to me, is all that's wrong with modern cars. Add complexity and weight which is cost, to do things that are easily done manually.I saw a range rover leave the shooting ground car park last week and I saw the steps fold under after he started it and closed the doors. I was extremely impressed.
