Decent auto oiler?

I'm on my third auto oiler and they all seem rubbish. They take ages before any oil starts being dripped into the airline, and the settings are such that either the oil never makes it up the feed tube and into the flowing air, or it flows too much and I get oil spray out my tools!

I'm talking about the oilers that attach to the regulator output rather than the little ones that connect direct to the air tool.

Anyone found a decent oiler?

Easiest, is to oil the tool before use 2-3 drops, and a couple of drops before storage

Yep I also had no joy with my auto-oiler. It has been empty for a good while now after dumping all the contents into the air line and out of the tool I was using at the time. I suspect the oil wouldn't remain as a mist anyway and would settle out in the hose unless you were using a very high flowrate.
I gave up on it and oil my tools manually, same as Shox Dr says.

yes an oil can. I oil mine after use and run it a few seconds because if u don't and there's moisture in the air it rusts the bearings if its sat without use bin the auto one . only any use on a production line used 24 hours a day

As above, a few drops of oil in the back of the tool, auto-oilers are normally for industrial use.

Get interested in Pressol tools... they still sell beautiful old fashioned oilers, you won't go wrong with them:

Even then they can still be very hit and miss, have had more machine problems with operators overdosing the thing, then the oil mist from exhaust get everywhere and if not fitted properly they gum up small bore solenoid valves.
Most cylinders are built to such close tolerances they don't like oil in the air either.

A couple of drops into the tool as mentioned, I also put a squirt down the compressor end of the dedicated airline that gradually works its way through to the tool.
