I posted a few days ago bout having a look at making animal sculptures inspired by cave paintings, using bold sweeping lines and keeping it simple.
I had a go at a full sized example today.
Made using 20x5mm mild steel strip with 15x5 for the head.
I was after swoopy lines and not having a sense of it being made up of separate components.

I think i have achieved my aims.
This was made after an informal chat with a customer, lets see if he likes it.
if not I think I have opened up a new avenue to explore.

Great, I think it is true to your cave painting inspiration, are you planning to do other animals in that style?

When it was finished I had a pile of ideas. I fancy a crowd scene of people, other animals. I can see lots of spin offs

I have done them already in 3d, for a school up North a couple of years ago.
I got the school kids to design them and we made them in modern roles.

Really excellent representation Chunko, rear far side leg looks a little thin above the joint to my eyes,

It looks good like a line drawing. Cavemen drew herds of them running, you need to put some motion into it Chunko.

That comes later, first thing is to get the shape in my head.
I think my customer (hopefully) wants a small herd of them grazing in his paddock. Then we have them running about being hunted by stick men with spears.
