Well iv just been told my new tig has to go back to Germany for an inspection before they will send a replacement out , being that it took the first one 9 days that's at least 2 weeks before I'll see another unit , I can tell you I'm not impressed at all and it's just fortunate I dont use it to make an income from it .

Lorch use DPD I believe which should stand for "Damaged Parcel Delivery", they are truly crap at delivering intact and on time parcels in the UK, to my cost.
I'm very surprised Lorch don't use DHL, who I've always found to be an excellent courier, considering the cost of their machines...

That's the first I have heard of it Chris, no one from Engweld has been in touch with me regarding your machine and the factory would not ask for it to be returned for "inspection". If it's damaged, it's damaged! It does not need to be inspected photographs are plenty good enough. Was it signed off unchecked or was the packaging clearly damaged? I'll be speaking to Engweld Scunthorpe on Monday to see who it was they actually spoke to.

We have a European wide agreement with DPD, cost has nothing to do with it, as I imagine a 2-3 day service from Germany would be pretty much identical from all of the main parcel companies.
If I dispatch anything from my UK stock for delivery in the UK I use APC and TBF they are all much of a muchness.
I used APC once. Shower of **** that they were. First attempt, well, they didn't, and it got sent back. Second attempt would have been sent back, had I not blocked the trunker into their warehouse with the discovery until someone went and found my parcel. Eventually I went and looked myself (knowing the rough dimensions) and found it within 2 steps of the entrance to the warehouse.
I was not best pleased.
On the other hand $dayjob$ use DPD (in their Interlink brand) and it's been very good.

I can understand that Lorch wish to use one courier, I'm only speaking from my personal experience of DPD courier service, late delivery and damaged parcels to the point that an expensive computer case was totally crushed. DHL on the other hand have always been on time and I've never suffered a damaged parcel or goods.

As I said they are all much of a muchness and it's generally the luck of the draw. In my eyes they all have pretty much the same infrastructure, the problem is the wages they pay and the fact that they all use a lot of agency staff means that "some" of the employees to be blunt are thick as sh*t or worse still deliberately throw stuff around and take the pi**
All they said was every time they call the rep they get the answer phone and have to leave a message , someone called back and told them to contact the factory direct , who then arranged for it to be returned to Germany for an inspection .
When I picked it up it was unboxed but I was in a rush to get to work so put it on the front seat of the car , I had a look on the way and noticed a dent and reported it once I arrived at Bridlington .

Un boxed?? So someone at Engweld unpacked it? I'll sort it Monday for you. To be honest we do encourage direct contact with Germany from our dealers because there is no reason why not. We have staff in the internal sales office who are dedicated to the uk distributors, but I can say for sure no one called me in the UK regarding your damaged unit. However it may if been one of my colleagues. I'll get to the bottom of it on Monday for you

Have spoken to Ricky at Scunthorpe, no one from Lorch in the UK was aware that your machine had been delivered and had been damaged by the couriers, he had contacted Germany directly himself anyway.
Either way its not a problem, I am obviously now involved and I am organising to get it sorted for you and should have a solution in the next couple of days. I will PM with the details soon.
