Looks like i'm the owner of this thread. Sounds important doesnt it. So as boss, no talk of arc v. mig please, or i'll be down on you like a tonne of bricks. No chat, well, at least until 4/5 posts in as per usual.
Anyway, here goes:
I have a Devilbiss JGA spray gun. A gooden, too good for spraying the sort of stuff i spray anyway. Been spraying some frames for a job, primer then enamel. Managed to get a real nice finish on them, but was fighting it.
Never really bothered to alter the settings on the gun, cos it works fine, problem is now, when i am spraying, the paint flow fluctuates, so i get full flow, then almost nothing, then full flow again. All the time. - obviously makes hard work of a decent finish. A blocked nozzle i hear you say, well yes, i thought so as well, but when i blast gun wash through it i get a constant jet. Tryed upping the amount of thinners in the paint, but doesnt really make any difference. I have recently taken it apart, cleaned all the bits, stuck it back together with no real improvement.
Is it something to do with the settings? Anyone else got the same gun? Can anyone tell me the right cap i should be using for these sorts of paints, how much thinners should i be adding - the paint is usually industrial stuff, colour mixed, so other than a safety label and a name, there are no other instructions on it.
