Dewalt 18v plane

I have a 18v brushless plave made by dewalt and while cleaning it today noticed i can see the drive belt through a hole in the belt cocer, first thought was its damaged but the hole looks like it is some kind of opening that should have a small cover, does this look right?

If so that's normal.

I just looked up dcp580 and yes that looks like mine, just never seen it before it just looks a bit open to bits getting in.
