Dickson S2 tool post

Evening guys.
Was having a sort out in the workshop and realized I had a genuine dickson S2 tool post....ideal size for the empire lathe...anyway I thought for those of you that never took one apart and need to..I did a few pictures explaining it. Basically depress the round tool holder (spring loaded ) rotate the locking pin and gently pull at the same time. You will feel the offset cam find its location and you should be able to withdraw the locking pin from the housing. Gently depress the round tool holder as these have a spring .very simple....

The Dickson tool holder has been cleaned. It spent the night in citric acid. I spent a few hours with some needle files getting rid of some burs. All done and very nice indeed.

Nice that it has three tool positions, the little 'Myford' sized one only has two.

Yes this one is an S2. I have the bigger S3X.
But been looking for an S5....

Unfortunately I cant part with this one. But I will keep my eyes open if your looking for one.

S2 are original fitment on M300 but feel they a bit small.
Got over £110 for mine 9 years ago as i didnt like th eprice of the tool holders even s/h from £40 upwards.

M300's use S1 tool posts and tool holders. @Tinbasherdan I might have a spare S2 tool post if you decide to go down that route.

Original fitment for M300 use T2 and a bit small at that, T1 are for toy lathes aka Myford.
M300 167mm Centre Height T1 is up to 127mm (5") centre height. T2 from 127 to 203mm centre height.

Lol. My M300 has a T1 toolpost and holders, the M350 has a T2 and I use both T2 and T2T holders on that.

My M300 is also S1/T1 , this was also the standard size on certain Colchesters ..as some of the holders I have aquired have colchester stamped on them.
