Die grinders

Im looking to buy a die grinder and im not sure what to go for. I have a budget of about £50. Will I be able to get something decent for that? Also should i go for a standard one or an angled one?
Im not fussed about getting a 2nd hand one, as long as its decent.

Oh and are these any good?

Most, if not all die grinders will have a 6mm collet. They might fit in a dremel tool.
Generally you'll get what you pay for, and those do seem very (too) reasonably priced.
Garryson make good ones, but a set of that many pieces might well cost more than the tool your using with them!

a straight grinder is best and i wouldnt bother with those rotary burrs there only 1/8 shanks . most are 6mm. any decent ones would cost about 4 to 5 quid each , and there from honkong

I have a straight and right angle die grinders.

The right angled one is nice for cutoff wheels. The straight one is better for burrs and grinding wheels.

Most die grinders have 1/4 collets.

My latest one has 1/4" and 1/8" collets. Tried some 1/8 grinding wheels and they vaporized. Really only useful on small soft work.

My 1/4" burr on the other hand just eats metal

Picked up my latest die grinder of Craigs list. A full set: Die grinder, air hammer, 1/2" impact wrench with 8 sockets and a blow gun; $50. All Chines junk, but they work well.

Hooblah do a search for "router" in recent posts quite a few of us using them as they tend to be cheeper than a good die grinder.

No I'd like an air die grinder so I can get into small spaces. A router would be massive!

Just won a blue point die grinder for £36. Should be good enough right?

I have a cheap one, had it a few years, no idea where it came from but it's done fine. Occasional use, not daily/weekly etc. Just don't believe the air reqs on cheaper tools, mine said 4cfm, no way would it run off that.

I bought one years ago and I've used it twice. The second time was when I had forgotten what a pain in the @55 it was the first time. It iced up half of the time and was running the 3hp motor on the compressor almost flat out the rest of the time. It would be cheaper to buy and run a Makita or Metabo electric one for around £100 if I used one regularly but I found the Dremel lookalikes from Aldi and Black and Wrecker powerfile do all I need.

I used to use a screwfix one and it used a lot more air than the ingersol rand I am using now - I think better quality ones are more efficient with their air usage

sometimes i just cant figure out why people use air tools and have a 3hp motor and pump banging away in the corner...paint and a blow gun is the primary use of my comp. Grinding..cutting..and drilling i just plug em in

i use a slow geared air drill it takes up to half inch bits . when drilling its powerfull but doesnt break the drills when they snatch . the high speed air drill is used when a lot of drilling is required with small bits eg riveting ect there quick small and compact . the air die grinder is more versatile than an elecric one and is smaller and lighter. da sanders are better than the electric ones 2 . it depends on what gear u have and how often its used

I disagree anyway that air da sanders are better than electric ones.The electric ones have the benefit of variable speed which comes in very handy at times.
