diesel compressor

i've bought a 6.5hp petrol 40 cfm compressor,the engine
is nacked i've been offered a twin cylinder diesel
engine of about 15 hp am i right in saying the cfm
won't go up.

CFM depends on the speed of the engine, not its power, although you need a more powerful engine to drive the pump faster.

There is a limit to how fast you can drive a pump though.

Loncin engine will be a bit cheeper and there as good as

Just set the governor to the required speed on the more powerful engine, jobs a good'n !

along with trying to fit a larger engine on the mounting plate and buy a new twin pulley and belts like for like better

In the ideal world the pulley from the old engine would fit the new !

The 15hp diesel will probably nor rev as high as the petrol Honda so it will take longer to get to pressure unless you change the pulley ratio and diesel engines are usually a lot bulkier than petrol.

110 quid,i can't see there being any good for

if the comps worth it just buy the honda direct replacement and your guaranteed good reliable service

Loncin engine will be a bit cheeper and there as good as

cant believe that, honda are a well known make loncin not commonly known
chinese copys are usually not that reliable if you intend to use them alot

honda it is,it's for work so i can't afford to muck
about.

if you have the knowledge to find out the pump speed you could fit the diesel run it at a lower speed as its a higher powered engine gear it to suit the pump rpm and save on fuel using red diesel
