Different types of quick couplers ???

I have 2 different styles of quick couplers.

Is there a conventional naming for these different types. I keep buying the wrong female ends. the longer style ones are totally rubbish...or I am buying totally the wrong females. They go in and lock, but leak like a sieve.

The shorter ones are OK in the other females that I have. But I have just bought a new hose with a fixed longer style male end !!! So I need to find the correct female to go with it.

Hope that makes sense, I am starting to confuse myself now !!!

The longer one is a standard PCL connector, I think the shorter one is a European connector, they are not interchangeable. I'd standardise on the smaller ones, they have a wide bore.

Just to add, if you have a HVLP gun the euro fitting is more suitable.

There are also more than one type of Euro coupler. Type 25 & 26 to name but two, those are practically indistinguishable, but others have subtle differences in length, also known as Rectus couplers.

More expensive than pcl, but I prefer them because they don't detach so easily, with some variations requiring additional force in the opposite direction to allow decoupling.

use these if u don't want any -loss of cfm I use all 3 types and have adaptors

'RECTUS' couplers !! LOL. Now that is asking for trouble !!

It drove me nuts, too, around a year ago when I started getting into air tools. Pick one and stick with it, but keep a couple of adapters to hand.

I went with the euro (left) connector because of... no reason at all...

I will ask him for a RECTUS coupler and stand well back !!!

I found that he euro connectors seal with a rubber of ring. This can get unseated in the female part causing the connectors Olton not couple correctly and leak air. The plc ones connect more positively to my mind

i made a adaptor with a hose tail to change pcl to the euro or visa versa

I bought 2 x PCL female couplers today and they are much better than the other one I had. Much firmer grip on the male end and no leaks !!!

I went with PCL because I could get them very cheap. ....but I am guessing from comments in this thread that is why my sandblasted never worked well..

pcl work ok on suction guns but not on pressure pots .plus-u -need decent bore pipe to it
