I have been plugging away at repairing my powerfab digger, having issues with the track rollers, think i have a plan but wouldn't mind some wisdom from the masses.
First off im pretty certain the rollers are cast iron, of some sort. Because of this they have worn a bit on the outer circumference, found one in good condition and it measured 126mm so im going with that as my bench mark as there is no technical specs for these diggers anywhere! (or spares)
first one i built up with weld and machined to size
horrible to weld, horrible to machine! and looks like carp
One was just totally missing so made a new one,
The late didnt like it, could only take 1mm cuts and literally took 2 weeks to finish, dont fancy repeating
So here is the state of play with the remaining rollers
vary in size to about 123mm, not too bad with my calibrated straight edge
except this one that is worn from 126mm on left to 122 on right...
So first off, is there any kind of acceptable wear on bottom track rollers? a mini digger about 1200kg. Think im answering my own question but im fitting new tracks so will these rollers mess them up in there current state?
finally i think i have an idea to recondition the rollers with minimal fuss (comparatively) would there be any material issues with machining down the rollers and shrinking 127mm steel tube onto them like a tyre? i can get hold of 3mm wall so can turn the rollers down past the worst wear and skim 1mm off the finished article.
Or would these be fine
