Hello everyone I am new to the forum so here goes. I am a disabled ex mechanic wth a spine thats bolted up with rods and bolts and have really bad chronic pain. I am unable to bend or rotate my spine so have to get my son to work on my car. He is a fitter and works on his own car but has done no mig welding. I want to replace the large front crossmember panel of my Toyota rav that hold the radiator which is held by small bolts and spot welds, some of which hold the panel to the thicker metal chassis. You would think trying to choose the right mig for the job would be easy, but as usual its indesision time. I want a mig with a low amp setting so that we dont blow holes in the panel. However, the panel has to be welded to the chassis as well with spot welds. I would let my son practice for a few days before touching my car and most of the welds are easy to get to. I like the sounds of the Clarke mig pro 90 with gas as it goes down to 24 amps, or the 100 e that goes down to 30 amps. The welder would be used mainly for working on cars and it needs to be able to plug into a house socket. My son would also use a car cover for a wind break so that he could use gas to give a better weld. It as totally frustrating that I cant do it myself but I have no choice. Take it from me when you badly damage your spine everything changes, look after your health particularly men and women who work in the motortrade. Any expert advice would be very helpfull and much appreciated. thanks Jim
