Hi All

Thought i would share our 'resident DJ Nut and Bolt man' that occupies a space in the office window.

It must be a 'manufactured' one as there is a copper name plate rivited to it and looks like it maybe from Germany perhaps.

I've seen other N and B men on this site but i just thought this was a bit quirky and so would share it

Looks good, ive been meaning to make one of these for a while and will be giving it a go at the weekend. Luckily theres an old shop near me that sells nults and bolts and washers for mere pennys.

Cant stand these things. They insult me massively.

They are mass produced, they have no sense of life or flow, made to a formula, and pig ugly. Note here this is applied to the factory versions.

Anybody making a piece of sculpture is not being bashed with this stick.

There is a lot of mass produced junk out there being touted as hand made by 'artists', most of it is not, a lot is spat out of asia by the container load.

Ugly ugly ugly.

I concur with chunk, same applies to all variations on this theme, spark plug trains, aircraft, motorcycles, etc, etc. Ghastly, nasty, aesthetic abominations !!

Twice well meaning family members have bought ,me these things as gifts. Straight to the charidee shoppe.

And dont start me on those Alien Predator things made in Thailand.

For what it's worth, I've got one exactly the same (Probably Chunko's point! ) and I quite like it.

If I may draw an analogy......
Its a bit like mass produced modern cider, such as Magners, where you have rubbish produced but can be sold to the masses (with ice!?).

Now, a percentage of those that started drinking Magners go on to drinking proper cider (such as Black Rat), that has actually seen an apple in its production. So while drinks like Magners are "wrong", and putting ice in them is even worse, it does have the effect of actually helping the quality end of the market in the long run.

So, for every 100 nut&bolt men sold, a number of them could well bring the recipients into the idea of scrap metal art, where they would better appreciate the works of chunkolini.

Just a theory.

PS. Speaking of ice, I was offered ice to go with some real ale last year. I had to ask her to repeat what she said, as I couldn't quite believe what she'd said. The world has gone mad.
