The best I can come up with is twin slot shelving

the last time i seen anything like that was in shops so its a retail type of shop shelving

id put it around 1986-1987 but twin slot took it over and was better

It does seem to be something lots of people have seen/used, but nobody can remember who made it.
It's certainly not a recent type.
