Double Din head unit recommendations?

I’m wanting to fit a double din head unit to the jaaaaag. As lovely as the CD changer is i’m getting a bit tired of the same 7 CDs and radio is just awful (apart from radio 1 on a friday night, some bangers there)

Ideally I’d want one with apple car play, bluetooth, USB.

It’d be replacing this setup

I’ll be using this fascia kit to fit it

have you tried to play your own disks ?

as my cd player does play them also mines a multi changer as well so all i did was just record my own and play them in the car

it was always better than to loose your originals

I have considered that, burning some CDs but apparently the CD changer in the s type won't read CD-RWs, so no MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, etc

you dont burn rewrites you burn cd-r there different

so players do and dont play them for the cost of burning disks id try it see where you go from there

a quick view says the same as above

id advise to burn with nero ive had less trouble with it than most who use other software why mine would play but others wouldnt

yeah i meant cd-r but I could give it a try...just seen many posts from people saying it doesn't work

to be fair I'd also like Bluetooth for hands free and sat nav

I bought an adapter that plugs INLINE with the standard connections on the back of a stereo. Gives USB and aux jack inputs

yeah i meant cd-r but I could give it a try...just seen many posts from people saying it doesn't work

to be fair I'd also like Bluetooth for hands free and sat nav

if you read up most of the time its down to user error as music systems hate fast burn cds whilst with computers its fine its also the reason why the cd-r fail so fast due to hgh speed burn when they was bought at car boots
burn at the slowest speed possible you can force it to burn at x4 or x2 speed but thats needs selecting before you close the drawer

its also fine if you want to go the other way and buy a unit for the jtype instead

So you'd just have to find somewhere to place the aux and usb jack? Could be another cheap option...

I put one of these in the Forester with an under-seat integrated amp, you can change the colour of the display, it’s not the best for aesthetics but it’s easy to use and I prefer a physical button to a touch screen that’ll possibly go bad/get sticky etc. .

My phone lives on a cigarette-lighter charger and Bluetooth is easy, better than more wires around the gearstick area.

That and an Amazon Auto could be all that you would need.

i’m using one of those at the moment but the audio quality is awful

A parrot kit will give you Bluetooth for phone and audio streaming from a phone. You can then stream FLAC from a phone app like VLC player which is CD quality.
Bury is another decent kit if Parrot is not your thing.
