Bit of a morbid one. sorry about that. No need to call the Samaritans just yet though.

Got a few buildup pics I can upload later if anyone's keen. I was hoping to make this a super simple "no weld" project as an exercise but changed my mind about the mount for the bulb holder so had to make a little rearrangement. Then went and tapped a thread for a grubscrew/earth. I figured I had to earth it - the irony would've been just too much.

To be honest, I'm not fully happy with the way it "hangs" anyway. I think I need to go an order of magnitude bigger to hide the bulb holder and get a better scale with the "rope".

A bit. It's works out at about 0.1 Amps though and is a 10 amp cable with a 3 amp fuse. I have a feeling the bulb will cause it to get hotter than the coiling but I'll run it for a few hours and see how it feels. Worth thinking about anyway. Promise not to use it as a welding extension lead.

How about a flatter shaped bulb? The flat LED ones don’t heat up like some others do, and you could maybe put some eyes on that kind of bulb too. I don’t know if heat resistant anti- fire-type cable would be something to consider using.

Also, you could bind the ankles together, and maybe put the arms behind the back and do the same with the wrists using earth sleeving or similar? Of course, if the sculpture represents self infliction (as opposed to state infliction), then my suggestion does not really apply.

I hope this sheds a bit of light on the project. Was it a spontaneous idea or did you hang around for a while pondering your options?

Puntastic! It is heat resistant overbraided cable and doesn't get significantly warm. Think I'll leave the s&m version for someone else though. Don't think I'll find anyone to give this one to anyway!
