Drain Extension

Is there an easier/more cost effective solution to extend the drain on my compressor?

The situation is I need :
90 degree 3/8 male threaded elbow to come out from the bottom of my compressor
6" extension to the wall
90 degree elbow downwards
18" extension down the wall
Then a ball valve with a short piece of hose for draining

Do any kits exist?

In regards to the extension I did think about using a flexible tap hose, They mainly seem to come in 1/2 connection, So would need to use a reducer

I just use an elbow some 10mm nylon pipe with compression fittings either end threaded bsp and on to a ball valve

I fitted a 90 degree elbow into mine, bsp one side, 10mm push-in nylon the other & used nylon hose to pipe it through the wall so it drains outside, adding an in-line tap in a convenient position. Anywhere that does lorry spares should have the pipe & fittings.

I have my compressors outside.
I have put female air fittings into the drain bungs on mine.
I just plug in a male airline connector to drain them onto the floor.

Handy as it gives me a air point outside for inflating tyres etc.

You could do the same with an inaccessible compressor, just connect an airline to the drain point, fit a female to the far end. Run it to wherever you want to drain it to. Just plug in a bare male connector to drain it out.

Gives you an extra air point at the drainage location then!.

I was originally planning to fit auto-drains but after installing a system in a mates workshop they never worked as we did too good a job and the system never lost enough pressure to get them to kick in!

I think the idea behind the auto drains is that they open when you release the air from the tank at the end of the day, which is fine unless you don't bother.

Depends on the auto drains I suppose, have two in my system that drain when the water level rises. Think they are made by Hiross look a bit like a rugby ball, came with a secondhand drier I bought

Aye, but in a catastrophic burst water will travel through 360 degrees - with a small leak gravity wins.....
