I had my mind set on a straight up mma inverter. Decent mig later when I have funds.

Some members then suggested the blackline 200, the rohr and I have read about the uptime on the forum.

I am just curious to weather you would all dodge the draper like my brain says to but I am also intrigued by it!

Looks better than the usual rubbish welders they sell.
So possibly, depending on the length of the warranty, as it would be easy to return compared to other generics.

There again, Draper is not a 'proper brand' (anymore?) and I wouldn't like to own any tools with their name on. Needs new stickers!

From what I have read here old draper was ok, possibly made by cemont years ago, similar quality to a sealey. New stuff is probably not made in italy anymore. 2 year warranty. I always thought of draper as a hand tool company more than electric/power tool company. Everyone seems to have a finger in every pie these days so its hard to know what they are actually good at! I did think the known name might make parts or warranty easier than the other generics. Saying that I downloaded the parts sheet and it had no part numbers!

I think that may be a good option, I was looking at a jasic pro 140 which was on the welding supplies direct site. It will come down to a reliable mma inverter or a cheap mma/mig hybrid. I am leaning toward the mma inverter again. Hard to know which way to go with these things, some of the better brand's mig/mma sets look in the most part the same as the cheaper stuff but starting at double the price with a different panel sticker. I guess as you have said on here before you pay for the after sales service and maybe some slightly higher quality components. Is it worth twice the price though.
