Drill press Arc of shame!

Saw this on eBay just now:

I just don't understand how people can be so bad at drilling, it's like they're trying to cut the table into two.

Anyone ever seen a worse one?

I was offered a really old pedestal drill with a round table that could be rotated as well as slewed. This gave the operator the opportunity to send the drill into every part of the table, and over the years they had taken advantage of the opportunity too, to the extent that I couldn't find a square inch that was actually flat. I didn't bother with it needless to say, but what a crying shame!

Couldn't you weld/bolt a heavy steel plate on top?

I wasn't desperate at the time, and now I have my beastie Pollard. The drill can only go down into the centre hole so it's imbecile proof!

they are not bad at drilling, just bad at cutting the table in half

If I found some body who worked for me did this to a machine in my shop I would sack them on the spot. Anyone who is sufficiently qualified to use a machine like this should not abuse it in this fashion. This might come across as I'm not impressed by someone who could do this and you'd be correct.

Make them fix it in their own time, so its 100% perfect then move them sideways before making their new role redundant- its far cheaper!

That table goes to show that we have the same quality of tosspot both this side and the other side of the pond. That one is an American effort.

Post 4 is shocking...theres just no excuse for that even a piece of wooden board iff you drill without a vice would of helped that poor soul of a table

I hate seeing that, lazyness of the operator,
