I bought a used (spares or repairs) drill press from here a while back, and have eventually got around to buying a chuck for it (jacobs 14n).
The press all works nicely, but the run out is no better than my ancient warco thing.
Its usable, but if your holding the job by hand, there's noticeable wobble on the work as the drill engages.
The chuck and arbour are new, so i assume they are good.
Is there much you can do to reduce run out?
The press is one of these -
but re-badged by axminster tools. Theyre (as most axminster stuff is) re-badged Chinese stuff. The original price was (as most axminster stuff is) eyewatering, so its mid range, rather than junk.
Ive attached the parts diagram pdf to this mail, and the diagram (if anyone is that keen!) is on page 9.
Again, its not prime old British made cast, but its also not pocket change, so, if it can be made good, that would be nice. Again its not terrible now, and i in no means regret the purchase, but it would be nice to make it better if i could!
Thank you.
