It's now 2 weeks since I had my hernia repaired, so I've been busy making this stand for the drill press that Santa so kindly gave me (I still can't figure out how he knows exactly what you want !!). I still have to be very careful how much I lift but "ve haf vays of lifting sings".
The drill is 980mm high which is far too high to put on the bench. This stand is 650mm high made from 50 x 50 x 3mm angle and is 450mm square, on castors that I had laying around. The front ones swivel and all 4 have a brake on them. The sides are some old 16mm melamine (white cupboard shelving) and the top is 35mm laminated bench top with a couple of 12mm bolts holding it down. The drill runs nice and smooth as it should, but I mounted it on some rubber pads anyway.
