Drip Tray For White Spirits (Advise Needed)

hi all, I need a bit of advise.
I need to make a mild steel drip tray for white spirits out of mild steel, but I don't know what coating to put on it as i'm afraid the white spirits will just dissolve it. I would make it out of stainless but the customer insisted on mild steel.
The dimensions are 150x150x10. It will me made out of 1mm sheet.

Powder coating should be OK.

If he's not fussed about the colour a coatings firm may be happy to put it in with someone else's work for a few quid.

tried that the other day but it went all fizzy and just melted off. What about a cold galvanizing paint?

The cost of a piece of 1mm stainless to make that tray is about £1. the painting and messing about will far outweigh the cost of the stainless.

Sometimes when I get something in a job that the customer doesn't want due to cost, but I do want due to effort saving, I'll throw it in and not change the cost, or even chuck it in for free. Got to cut the wheat from the chaff and get on with the big stuff.

The customers think they're getting a better deal / service (which they are, but in a very minimal way) and I save myself a lot of farting about. Make it sound like you're doing them a favour.

You could spray it with epoxy primer. I am surprised the powder coating did not work.
I made my drip tray out of galv ms sheet.

The customer is insisting on suppling the metal, I am going to ring him up and tell him stainless is the only way to go and it will be cheaper than treating the mild steel. Thanks everyone, ill post up pictures when its done.

powder coat, galv or epoxy will cost more than the stainless even before you put on labour...( unless you already have in which case I suspect we would not be discussing this)

He went for stainless but supplied it all himself, cut and all and waited while I had to weld all of it, Not fold the sides and weld the corners. It will cost him more but thats what he wanted. Pictures later today

Sorry to even suggest it...but can you not use a plastic tray?

I take it it's got to be removable, so I slide in and out plastic tray would solve all your probs, no?

Wit this fella you make a suggestion and he gets ****** off. You ask him a question about what he tells you to do, he tells you to F off and goes elsewhere but will come back to you for another job. He's an old fella though and always pays, which is the most important thing.
