Dry Ice blasting equipment rental

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone has ever hired any dry ice blasting equipment? I've got a seriously dirty milling machine I want to restore and figured I could clean it and remove paint at the same time without needing an extensive enclosure. But I worry it may be extremely expensive.

What sort of prices were you getting and for what service?

Ice blasting kit is fairly specialist and requires training to be used properly/safely, I doubt there is a rental option.

We used Cryogenesis to clean our welding fixtures every 6 months.

I think it was about £1k to clean 16 fixtures, took 2 men a day.

You'll need a minimum 1½" airline flowing some serious cfm's to supply the machine!

I was assuming I would also be hiring a compressor at the same time. Can't really justify that sort of cash but wonder if hire would end up being much cheaper if indeed I can find someone local enough.

The idea was to find something that was not too labour intensive and would kill too birds with one stone (clean and remove paint) with minimal mess. This is a 1.7 ton milling machine so it would be a lot of brushing. I'm pretty sure ice blasting would be perfect if I can manage to do it cheap enough.

hope u have the room and cash to hire a 80 cfm or larger road tow compressor to run one

We use our own cleaning equipment, but normally for a job the dry ice alone is £400
