A little job here I've been messing with, its a dryer / burner set up used by road marking crews when drying the ground for white lining or burning off old thermoplastic marking
As bought it looked like this,
_______
Its a compressor driven by a Honda engine with a gas cylinder mounted on the back and the lance is housed in the yellow tube at the front, the original idea is to park it up and use the lance hand held, its nicely made but my customer is line marking rail platforms and wants to be able to push it in a straight line and dry the platform edge without stopping, then another operator follows close behind with a trolley mounted airless spray set up,
With the compressor mounted sideways its too wide to go through a standard doorway and in some lifts, it also takes up too much width in the back of a van, and that single wheel on the front makes it a rock bit like a reliant robin,
So I dismantled it and carved it up, extended the chassis, fitted 2 pneumatic castors to the front, moved the existing wheels back and fitted a gas bottle cradle salvaged from another machine, the handles were made adjustable in height to allow for the 10" or so height difference between the people using it,
_______
The lance is now located in a stainless tube which is mounted on the end of an adjustable telescopic box section bracket so that it can be lit and left in the holder, a heatshield is fitted to the tyre just in case, but in use it will never be that close, then a quick coat of paint and re assemble with the compressor turned through 90deg, and a lifting handle on the front completes it.
_______
Ready for collection, or so I thought, the customer then decided that some brakes would be a good idea,
________
So just used a couple of toggle clamps screwed to a welded on bracket, which meant spoiling the paint, but he'll sort that his self,
