dust/fume extraction filtration

hi again everyone

Just been thinking when i start to spray its gonna cause some fumes! This may be a problem as my new garage may be near residential houses and i dont want any complaints to ruin my fun. Things will be bad enough when i start grinding etc with the noise. Putting in a extractor wont be a problem but im gonna need to filter the paint from the air and if possible take out the smell.

I have been thinking some sort of carbon filter or maybe a foam filter with a filter oil. Or some sort of waterfall behind the extrator? crazy idea?

If anyone else has had this problem or any ideas i'd be grateful for the advice.

interesting jamie, i want to do the same and i would be interested as to what (if any) suggestion people have to get rid of the smell and fumes upon extracting, what are you using for an "extractor"?

I haven't put anything in yet as im only at the begining stages of getting set up but it is a major worry for me.

I was thinking a vent-axia fan with a speed controller ive put them in changing rooms to get rid of steam etc and ive got one somewhere. I haven't come across anyone advertising a filter etc so might be a case of putting something together myself.

I have been thinking of a waterfall effect within a duct behind the fan so the paint fumes can be blown onto the water hopefully taking the colour out of the fumes at least would stop anything outside being coated in theory and possibly take out the smell? still doing a bit of research on that tho.

dunno, im sure the smell is mostly in the thinners (from my very limited experience) i might be wrong, not sure if it would be attracted to the water, the paint will though!!!

I think I read somewhere on here that the water-wash filters weren't legal anymore. This implies they once were and they probably work!

The regs probably only apply to commercial operations, but you could still get done for causing a nuisance.
