These are the other type of discs that are great for ripping of the hull blacking and in tighter spaces. Can't seem the find the machine on the website but found one on eBay to show what they look like and the replacement wheels are on there site.

I was quite impressed with the sand syphon gadget that goes on the end of a steam cleaner or pressure washer lance.

I've seen videos of something like those but used with an air compressor.... but for the lift of me I can't find any for sale (or a name to search for)

anyone have any pointers?

How about that paint remover that you slop on (it's thick) and then apply a paper or mesh of some sort.
Next day, peel off the paper and the paint comes with it.
Seen it used to remove lead paint on building columns needing welding.

I did have a quick go with a Tercoo triple disc. They seem good for getting into pits, which a grinder wouldn't. I found it a bit slower than a grinder on a flat surface if aiming for perfect bare metal.

How does it compare to a scabbler? They sound fast.

We actually brought just the cutter head with C5 cutters and have fitted it onto a variable speed linisher polisher as we find it more agile and better suited on the side of boats.
I can normally strip a full length narrowboat roof in 40mins.

Why a C5 head rather than a C3? Website says "C3 hard steel star cutters are for cleaning off paint and rust, suitable for use on steel"

Thinking of getting a 4” scabbler head with C4 cutters. It is 139 ex VAT, so half the price of the 6” head with C3 cutters at 338 ex VAT. Link below says C5 but if you click on it it is actually C4.

Only C3 is recommended on metal. C4/5/6 are tungsten carbide and not recommended on metal. But Tercoo discs are tungsten carbide tips and that worked ok. Just wondering how well it will work. Half the price is a lot.

Sorry for not replying sooner it's been crazy busy with work. Most places do use the C3 heads for boat paint removal.
We just find the C5 to be harder wearing which is probably why they recommend using the C3's as they want to sell more.
At the end of the day it depends how many boats you want to strip.
