Earth issues?

I was trying to weld with my Cebora 130 /w Co2 and could not get it to weld.
Wire feeding OK, but all I got was feed - pop - feed - pop - feed - pop
Checked the earth all good.
Tried on a fresh bit of metal cleaned up so it was shiny
Cleaned the welding clamp
Tried the wire for the earth direct to the metal and clamped in place
Still the same.
Any pointers on what to try next?

Check the connections inside the welder especially crimped on the return cable look for signs of heat if the lead is crimped to the output from transformer I would remove the crimp and rejoin also check the clamp connection and torch connections

That sounds like the wire not feeding. Are you maybe tightening a loop in the torch lead and the testing it straight?
I'd get a test piece and try it with a straight torch lead. I'd also change tip and make sure it's tight. They can get hot and wobble about.
I'd also try turning up the wire speed. You don't say what you are welding and the settings of the unit. They can be temperamental at times.

Thanks chaps. I will have a look at the points mentioned and also have a look at the settings.
I was welding some steel, about 3mm on 2 and Max and wire speed 4 or 5 I think.

no the tip is inside the shroud where the wire comes from

If you have a compressor pull the wire out and with the tip removed blow the liner out while you are at it

The Cebora 130 wire feed isnt fantastic and needs the tension adjuster wound up pretty tight to get a good feed.

It looks like its feeding 'til it encounters a bit of resistance or the torch lead is bent a bit.

Try winding the tension up
