Earthing a spray gun???

I have just bought a devilibiss gravity spray gun. The set up manuals says it has to earthed. Can anybody explain how and what to do?

long length of wire rapped round the handle and then connected to earth its to stop static but have never thorght about spray gun's before causing static

depends on what you have. a croc clip to clean metal on the compresser would be fine or wire it into the earth pin on a plug and plug it in. its only to take static not current. back to the comp would be easy as the earth wire could be taped to the air hose as they both go back to the same place

static can build up with the fluid going through the nozzle and the air through the rubber hose if the parts u are spraying are grounded it can jump from gun to parts and if using well flamable paint its curtains 4 u but to be honest would u bother NUPE

I suspect that is just Devilbiss covering themselves in a world where health and safety has gone mad because of the ambulance chasers.
As above there is the possibility of static building up due to the velocity of the air passing the tip, but to my mind the risk is minimal. Make your own decisions though.
Again, as above, a simple length of wire from the gun to a clean ground should do the job, either to the compressor which should be earthed through the electrical circuit or to the earth pin on a plug. Connecting to the fitting where you connect the gun to the airline should make a nice "quick release" earth circuit.

agree with that if you are useing pcl or simulator connect to the hose side instead of the gun
