why did you do the weld if you thought you may lose your job over it?
my only explanation is i wasn't thinking straight, only realized when i put the last inch of weld in.
yes it is goin to be tested, its a tapping sleeve used to help drill holes in pipes.

and you have welded it with EP ied say you best bet is to tell the man in charge there is no point waiting till they x ray it and find a fault you may as well admit it now rather than say "yes i know it was wrong but i thought i could get away with it"

The upward pipe, as you refer to it is a branch. All very fundamental stuff if you have been trained properly, you can also google the rod you used, then you may sleep easier tonight!!
