Ebay 3hp compressors: yay or nay?

Spotted these black 3hp v-twin compressors on ebay from Jawel at a very reasonable price. I want to buy a compressor to spray the odd panel on my car with an HVLP gun; this should be sufficient if the 14cfm is anything to go by. But it has no warranty, is 'brandless' so no spares available and looks a tad.....cheap, judging from the picture.
Look like a lot of them have been sold and the seller feeback is good, but 'NO WARRANTY, SEVEN DAYS TO RETURN' sounds a bit dubious to me

Anyone on here got any thoughts?

Would touch it with a long pole! It's worth remembering distance selling regulations not sure though what the deal is with warranties

if they had been belt drive well worth a punt but i wouldnt buy any make of direct drive compressor unless it was for next to nowt .30 quid tops

My direct drive comp is a tad on the noisy side, I tend to stop using it when my ears bleed.
They do the job but are hellish to live with, if I had more use for one I would certainly buy a belt drive but never another direct drive.

I have one of these direct drives, 4 cylinders and only 73 db

The wolf belt drive is about £250 and I have seen good reviews on it, jawel are pretty good though don't think they would sell junk, just being direct drive they are noisy and most only run up to 8 bar, so not as good for air tools.

My 20 year old SIP looks like that, it's noisy but not that bad that you can't work near it. I've had paint and sprayguns from Jawel and if you have a problem they sort it.

depends on what cfm or fad you cutter needs it' a 50 litre tank just add another tank mine takes less than a minute from empty to cut out not sure on pressure think it's 8 bar ish 120psi and my compressor is a few years old

Not tried yet but it will run a pressure pot sandblaster fairly well

Looks like the compressor is made in china and painted that colour with no brand name on, everyone does it.

Mildly power hungry tools the compressor would be permanently tripped in.

Jawal are a local paint suppliers to the trade with good reputation and decent pricing.
Had my 2nd mig from Wolvo branch 16 yr ago good value amongst other things, shops always full of trade workers, tells you something.

As Hareng says, all these small compressors are the same. They are a mixture of Chinese and Italian parts and all work well in the DIY environment. Easily good enough for a decent sized nozzle spray gun. I had an Axminster tools version of one once and was faultless apart from two things (neither a fault as such)
1/ 3hp is rough on 13amp fuses and tends to pop them on occasion - not good if you're half way through spraying :-( The fix for this problem is very easy, but I'm not saying what, you have to work that out for yourself :-)

2/ The regulator is a bit lack lustre, you'd be better to get a separate one with water drain mounted on the workshop wall.
