Electric hydraulic power pack

Hi I would like to hear from anyone with an electric hydraulic power pack. I would like to know what size motor is on it and what size pump. I always thought you could get away with a smaller motor than petrol engine to power same hydraulic pump. Ie 5.5hp petrol Honda engine 8gpm hi/low pump and 2.5hp electric motor 8gpm hi/low pump. I would prefer an electric motor on mine as it would be easier for me and alot quieter. Thank you

The electric ones do seem to vary, they can be bought quite cheaply on ebay but often they have low flow rates which rules them out for some operations. Many of them tend to be 3ph too. I run a a Honda powered one on my log splitter as it's easier/quieter than running the tractor.

Adam dont be too concerned about the power difference, the 5hp Honda output is rated flat out @3600rpm. If you look at the chart it only puts out 2.5 hp at the kind of revs you will operate at, the leccy motor would be its equal.

Mine's quite small, it's got a GX140 on it. The flow rate is less than the tractor so the ram is slower but it will run all day on a tank of fuel and it's not as noisy as the tractor.

i have a 5hp three phase on mine, good for around 15 tonne

8ob thanks for that chart it's very helpful. Say I was to buy a 8gpm hydraulic pump what size electric motor would you put on it or would you go for a smaller pump if you can get them
