electrode identification

Found a pack of electrodes but put in a castolin box, the only writing on them is STUBS 63.

Google is coming up with nothing, any ideas?

From Google, Stubs 63 would appear to contain Carbon, Manganese, Chromium & Nickel and has a classification 44N1, but I can't anything about 44N1.

Why don`t you go on line and look for an equivalent electrode.This will tell you the chemical analisys.Stubs and UTP play their cards close to their chest,they consider themselves at the cutting edge of repair electrodes,hard facing etc.

That's great guys just a general idea was all I needed, so hardfacing will bear that in mind.

Stubs 63 are hard facing rods (which I think is what the OP wanted to know, but seemingly can also be used for joining metals

0.15% Carbon, 7.0% Manganese, 8.5% Nickel, 19% Chromium Steel

If thats the composition (I havent checked) its a 307 which can be used for Dissimilar Stainless to Mild Steel and Stainless to Stainless (depending)

The UTP dur 350 is a basic coated facing rod 0,2C 1,2si Mn1,4 Cr 1,8. giving a machinable deposit.

UTP 63, if the numbers carried from stubs to UTP is 0,1C si 0,5 mn 5,5 Cr 19,0 Ni 8,5 So more a buttering rod?
