According to this thread they're not the best but if it works and you're happy with it then it should do you fine. Not sure about the ET bit, yours might well be an updated one to the one in that other thread.
more likely it's older, but hoping that's good thing as long as it's not worn out, will try before I part with the cash though. if the feed's better I can bodge the rest
well after a good demo by the seller i bought the mig and have to say it's a big improvement on the other crap I've got cluttering up my garage.
It's a bit old and needs a few bits and a fettle, but my god does it weld, just need to get used to it now.
anyone know what the two knobs that sweep from + to - are for ? found them tucked away under the lid
that's what I was thinking too, both seem set to neg and it is a Mig/Mag, I'll see if i can take a picture tomorrow. there is also a symbol to each knob like a square wave, one is a single wave and the other is a double one, if that makes sense
Rang the bloke i bought it off and he said 'to be honest, I've no idea what they are for and as it welded fine i never bothered touching them' well that's helped clear that one up then
oh, and couldn't get the pictures posted up, is there a simple trick ?
aha, got the piccies to load at last.
here's some photos of my welder including the 2 knobs in question, any ideas ? also some advice on the use of the 4 way switch on the front panel would be helpful
also, anyone identify the torch in the picture ?
all help greatly appreciated
looks like the t2 controls the off time and t1 controls the on time durin stitch welding, and t1 the on time during spot welding (but it could be the other way round
the other switch play with it looks like
spot
stitch(pull trigger n it welds pauses then welds again)
continuous (pull trigger n let go and it continuses till you press trigger aagain
seam (normal welding)
not sure what order on the switch as my welder has different graphics
well, as usual when you buy something off ebay you end up having to fix it
anyway, after buying a new torch (I was going to anyway) I noticed that things didn't semm quite right with the wire feed. After inspection I could see that the long threaded bit where the wire enters the euro socket was bent, caused it appears by the fact that it only had 1 scew holding it in place.
Good news is that after stripping it all down I was able to straighten it out pretty well and all seems to line up niceley now. Having said this, it didn't seem to affect the welding ability, but makes me feel happier as the wire actually drops into the groove much easier now.
Can't help but notice how much the Pro-type wire feeds look like windscreen wiper motors
any way, only other gripe I've got is that the wire feed setting never seems to need to go past 4 on the control knob, and that any adjustment has to be minute. There's no sign that the unit has been messed with at all so wonder if this is normal. I was thinking I could modify it by changing the pot, or adding another to give fine control, what do you think ?
