Hi all, I am new here and just after some info on the following.
I have an RX7 series 1, that I am doing a resto on and am planning on making it a show car etc so want to smooth out as much as possible in the engine bay and all over basically.
The biggest thing that irritates me on cars is the seams that are spot welded and seam sealed. I want to fill and smooth theses areas for the nice and clean look.
The RX7 is in very good condition body wise, no rust and all seam sealant is in place and it is fully filled:ie no holes for moisture to come through etc.
Questions are:
1: Can I use a body filler to fill the ugliness of the seams so I have a nice clean smooth surface?
2: if I do is there any risk of cracking from movement etc?
3: If there is risk what is the best method of filling and smoothing out the seams?
4: If I need to weld, is there a specific technique used ie: do I have to weld the full seam or can it just be short half inch to an inch section in various spots along the seam?
I will probably have many more questions which will include painting advice as well as I plan to do the whole thing myself.
Thanks in advance for any advice given.
Cheers
J
