Make your own and yes, look at the ones you can buy to steal the ideas.
A wall mounted stand should be ok, if the wall is strong enough etc. but is obviously not portable.
I also find it useful to be able to get at all sides of the engine (sometimes), which again may be compromised on a wall mounted stand.
An alternative is a floor stand which can be folded/disassembled and put back on the wall when finished.

Yerr i will have a look at machine mart for ideas/ sizes + it doesnt have to be that strong its only a 1.4 engine i can lift it myself

I'm not very bright
and I used to be able to lift heavy things as well .One of my many party tricks was to stand on the fuel tanks of a Landrover with the canopy folded back and lift the gear box out through the top by myself , then climb out and pick up & carry the box , put it on the bench .
May I hint that 40 yrs later on or so you may end up like me with a lots of disc damage from your lifting escapades .
Anything over 30 kg is best done as a two man lift or using mechanical handling equipment ( MHE).
One thing I made for doing up my old Mk 2 Cortina 1600 engine was a simple pyramid style frame ( base almost twice as wide as the top edges , with lockable 4 inch Castor's ,top height of 900 mm ,that fitted in place of the sump . Just ensure you leave enough gap to work on the front & rear bits when you make the frame .
With the sump removed it was a quick chain hoist lift to sit the engine in the frame , I used the side sump bolt holes to fix it to the frame...everything was then accessible .
It had a full re bore , crank regrind & refaced flywheel then I rebuilt it from scratch with new pistons ,new clutch and plate , bearings etc.
Three months later a " gent
" in a Volvo totalled me via the rear end , right outside the Thorpe wood main police station in Peterborough .I offered to go to his mum and dads wedding in three weeks time
The frame was eventually also used as a trolly for my big oil filled stick welder .
I have got a few ideas now am just waiting till i can get some cheap box section and i have just had some goood news off my local college that my level 3 city and guilds certificates are in
