Ergo Flame

I've been mucking around with one of these for the last few days. I managed to turn up some adaptors and am running it with BOC oxygen and propane cylinders. A few things are causing some difficulty in use, least of all my inexperience. For a start, I'm finding it difficult to adjust the flame. Would it help if I choked the pressure to the torch?

I don't know if anyone has come across these little torches but it looks as though it could prove much more useful than just for applying heat to reluctant fixings if I can only control it a bit better.

I used it today with one of those low temp alloy rods and although it took some time to get the torch right the results weren't bad.

Any advice?

i've got an Ergo Flame oxy-Mapp welder, had it for a few years now

it has a Butbro, "Orbit" torch

it works ok but i have to go to where i bought it from to get oxygen refills

do you have any photos of the torch ?

I'll set it up and take a picture of it this evening. Supply of suitable cylinders is what's stopped me from using it more in the past, which is why I adapted it for standards. Shame you're not closer as I've got several spare MAL cylinders for it that I'll probobly never use. The post office get a bit jittery about posting these things I understand

As I said, my only worry is that the pressure of the BOC cylinders is a bit high for the torch. Initial setting of the flame takes a while and the mixture is on a hair trigger.
