Esab TBi SR 26 tig torch

Greetings!

Finally got myself a tig welder which I had no real idea, what torch it will come with. So it turned out to be Esab TBi SR 26 tig torch, which as far as I can tell, is manufactured by a third party and labeled as Esab. Either way, it has two buttons and I am curious why it has two buttons. Anyone has any clue? They are simply two independent push buttons.
Connector meant for the machine end, has only two pins, leading me to think the two buttons cannot possibly do different things. Then again, why bother to manufacture two buttons in the first place?
I know the machine can take foot pedal, so it supports some sort of adjustability from torch/pedal on that end. And the torch has the buttons. So it puzzles me and I could not find any info on this whatsoever.

With only two pins, one must be for each button using the torch cable as the return. One button on and the other off.

The operation might be configurable - what does the manual say? What is the welding machine?

It's Esab Rogue tig 180i and manual is dead silent about the torch itself other than listing possible torch options that can be fitted. Nothing about the two buttons on it.
There is a section referring to remote control, but this sounds to me like a foot pedal:
"Connect the remote control to the front of the power source. When the remote control is connected, it is automatically activated. The maximum setting of the power source will be determined by the respective front panel control, irrespective of the remote control device setting."

Sorry, the machine was mentioned in the title - I should remember to read the title and not just the post.

You are right, the manual is silent. The foot pedal is W4014450 and I looked up the SCC pedal.

From the connections listed, the machine doesn't support two button on/off controls so I assume that either one button only is active or they both are and do the same thing.

I guess you'll have to plug it in and try.

I don't mind them both doing the same thing, it's just a really curious design choice to go through the trouble, to make a torch with two buttons. Maybe if I'm right and the torch is third party one, they can be used for different functions on other machines. Either way, thanks for the info and effort. I'll get to welding sometime soon and maybe stumble upon what they can do.

The buttons are an option on some torches - none, one, two, two levers or a button and a pot to adjust the current. I think there is also a three button, one to operate and two for current up and down.

Why the choice here remains to be seen.

Post when you work it out, I'm curious now.
