Etch Primer

Sometime next week I have a small bit or two of aluminium to paint, will only need one spray can (not even), as I'm in no hurry I was just going to get it off ebay. The paint thats going over it will be hammerite direct to rust (for no reason other than its sitting in the shed). Could anybody suggest any good brands?

Simon, for small paint jobs look for the Rustoleum hard hat range, they are almost as good as a small spraygun to use, most engineers merchants or paint suppliers will stock them, I pay about £8 or so for an aerosol depending on what it contains, but its equivalent to at least 2 standard cheap cans, and is a professional product.

Thanks jaykay, Paul, will see if i can find somewhere that stocks Rustoleum stuff, i vaguely remember seeing it somewhere

if its ally you should still get an etch priimer or the hammerite special metals primer that they do (sadly not in an aerosol though). depends who its for and where its going as the ally will usually reject the paint- even hammerite in a year or so. if it gets you off of site though its nothing that hasn't been done before...
