Etch Primers Aerosols?

I am looking for a suitable type etch primer aerosol for bare metal repairs. There appears to be two kinds available for automotive repairs an acid kind and one without.

For example Upol produce Acid 8 and a Upol Powercan Etch Primer. The acid primers seem to be more expensive so are they more beneficial?

Sounds a bit odd, I would have thought you'd need an acid to etch the metal.

I've used a phosphoric acid based etch primer on my Landrover and have been very impressed, so I personally would use that.

i well agree it can be hand painted on as well without brushmarks. and any type of paint can be coated over. i have a tin of etch primer single pack but dont think it can do the job of the added acid etch

zink chromate is best on galv after its been left a few month to.get weathered acid etch will do mind

use the upol 8
galv,there is a product called galvafroid,works well.

The acid etch I use is suitable for galvanised steel

it comes in a 1 ltr tin and a plastic bottle of acid any make realy just ask for 2 part acid etch primer google itmost on there and ebay are 1k but 2k better

That's because I can't remember

As Brightspark says the paint comes in a tin with a plastic bottle of phosphoric acid. You can get it pre-mixed in an aerosol. Depending on how you mix it you can brush or spray it.
